About:

Alex Babcock (He/They) is a Digital Multimedia Artist from Berkshire Massachusetts. Babcock possesses a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree with a Concentration in Photo/Video/Film from Montserrat College of Art (2022). His work often incorporates a multitude of media including, but not limited to, photography, photogrammetry, 3D modeling, 3D printing, animation, motion capture, videography, soundscape compositions, and virtual reality applications. He has shown in a number of exhibitions such as Gallery 51’s “Monuments to the People of North Adams”, Bare Galleries “Visibility”, and Industry III’s “Cell”, and his own virtual reality senior thesis exhibition “Through the Screen Door”. Babcock has also been awarded with Montserrat College of Art’s 2022 Photo Video Film Concentration Award, Montserrat College of Art’s 2021 Photo/Video/Film Concentration Merit Award, a Presidential Merit Scholarship from Montserrat College of Art, the 2018 Clara Well Alpert Memorial Art Award, and the 2018 Mass MoCA Teen Invitational Grand Prize Award. His work currently explores the themes of human connection within the contexts of family, politics, LGBTQ+ relationships, and those created within digital spaces. His work also investigates social connections that are obscured by mental illnesses or disorders such as social anxiety, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and social pragmatic communication disorder (SPCD).
