CPAI-XR: “Kirby”

“Kirby” formerly codenamed “MIK3” (Medical Interaction Kiosk 3) was a long term project I created at Mass General Hospital’s CPAI-XR internship program.

Kirby was CPAI-XR’s way of instructing the player on how to operate within virtual reality space.

The most challenging part of Kirby’s design was their arms, which needed to be both able to articulate with a wide range of freedom but maintain a retro-aesthetic that matched their CRT monitor body. After four differently modeled prototypes and plenty sketches, a fifth and final version was molded and rigged for all XR application use-cases.

Mass General Hospital CPAI has graciously authorized this work for portfolio display.
